Chris Froome backs Team Sky and Sir Dave Brailsford in drugs row

They've had the go-ahead from the powers that be to use that substance. That's absolute rubbish. I've seen that accusation but no, that's complete rubbish.

The section on Wiggins' use of the corticosteroid triamcinolone and UK Anti-Doping's (UKAD) investigation into claims of wrongdoing at British Cycling and Team Sky stands out.

Responding to Lappartient's comments, Team Sky said it was "happy to co-operate with any investigation by the UCI and we would welcome further scrutiny of the select committee's report".

Lappartient said that it was unlikely that the Froome case would be resolved before the Giro d'Italia in May, which Froome is intending to ride as Team Sky's leader.

The 32-year-old Team Sky rider is now competing at the Tirreno-Adriatico race in Italy and intends to ride May's Giro d'Italia and this summer's Tour de France.

With reference to a "well-placed and respected source regarding medicines policy", the report concluded that Team Sky riders, including Bradley Wiggins, had been treated with corticosteroids ahead of the 2012 Tour de France. "It's 100% performance enhancing", Landis told the Guardian.

It is not known how much Wiggins put into the scheme and a spokesman for the cyclist told the Times: "settled all tax liabilities a number of years ago and has paid all taxes due" and that there were "no open inquiries with HMRC". Is it just using the rules?

David Lappartient is the president of the UCI.

"I read the press release from Team Sky say [ing] "look we apologise, we recognise that we made some mistakes". You can't take them seriously if they don't act.

Smith , from California, was sitting behind the woman and what appeared to be her travelling companion. The SkyWest Airlines plane was headed from San Francisco to Idaho , and had 73 passengers on board.

Describing the findings of the British MPs' report as "unacceptable", Lappartient said they could "affect the global credibility of the sport".

David Lappartient, president of the world governing body UCI, has said Froome should not be racing.

The Frenchman said that such practices could be called cheating even if they were not against the rules.

Team Sky has accused the committee of presenting "unsubstantiated allegations" which it says is "fundamentally unfair to the team and its riders".

'We welcome any review by the UCI which can help establish the nature of the evidence relied on by the Committee in coming to its conclusions'.

"They need to explain it all to everybody", the Australian, who had a key coaching role at Team Sky from 2010-13, told Sky Sports. He is preparing for the Tirreno-Adriatico race in Italy, his second competition since news of his adverse drug test was made public. "So that's why it's taking some time".

And Tour de France director Christian Prudhomme is concerned Froome could bid for a fifth yellow jersey with the case still not sorted.

Landis said Wiggins would definitely have benefited from the substance. Asked whether he was part of the Team Sky riders prepared the same way as Wiggins for the 2012 Tour de France, Froome replied: "No".

"But for the image of our sport that could be a disaster and I don't want to put our sport into trouble".
