The New York Giants superstar wide receiver reportedly told the team he wouldn't play without a new contract signed before the 2018 season begins.

However, if the Giants are in contract talks with Beckham and plan to lock him up long-term, then these trade rumors will all just disappear.

If the Giants decide to play hardball with Beckham, he'd surely report to work eventually: He can't become a free agent without finishing the final year of his contract.

While Beckham is a remarkable talent and one of the top athletes in the National Football League, it's worth wondering how long it will take for him to get back into game shape.

Shurmur met with Beckham in Los Angeles earlier in the offseason when the coach went to California to visit college prospects.

At this point, information is preliminary, he said early Monday morning, and police have yet to fully process the scene. Police have not yet discovered a motive, but have not ruled out the possibility the bombs could be hate crimes .

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport took things a step further Tuesday, reporting that the Giants actually are listening to offers for the 25-year old.

"That is just another way of saying we're gonna try to do everything we can to make our team better, " Shurmur said. But after that, the Giants would say a Beckham trade "probably won't happen".

With the Giants being 3-13 last season and the video of Beckham surfacing, anyone on the team, including Beckham, isn't safe from being traded.

In the first three-plus seasons of his career, Beckham, the 2014 Offensive Rookie of the Year, has amassed 313 receptions for 4,424 yards with 38 touchdowns.

"I'm looking forward to working with him". I really don't think you can know somebody by just seeing reports, reading reports, hearing what people think and say. "We want really, really good players". We want guys that understand the importance of relationships, which means they want to be coached. "He's been an outstanding player, especially his first three years". Mara added that the star wide receiver was untouchable from trade talks. "So to be clear: I'm not going to respond to questions about either report, and as I stated earlier, every decision I make is going to be in the best interest of the NY football Giants".
