What happened to his team?

While Loyola and MI weren't picked by most to get to the Final Four, it was more widely anticipated that No. 1 seeds Villanova and Kansas would. Marques Townes offers another key piece.

It wasn't the only time Brady was connected to the Final Four this week.

The truth is, all things considered, Loyola-Chicago handled itself as well as any double-digit seed we've ever seen in the Final Four.

It honestly doesn't get much better than this.

Wagner finally hit a triple, this one from the top, with 2:55 left, and U-M matched its biggest lead, going up 59-51.

Moe Wagner has played 106 career games in three seasons at MI. MI was charged with eliminating them, and they did so without concern to the Ramblers' charm factor.

Both teams advanced deeper into March Madness because of last-moment shots in earlier rounds.

It's a resiliency that found its footing and persisted.

The Wolverines (33-7) will either face the Villanova Wildcats or the Kansas Jayhawks on Monday at the Alamodome.

The high stakes of the contest - and the nerves coupled with it - were evident from the get-go.

Wagner made 10 of 16 shots from the field including three 3-point field goals.

The national anthem was performed by a group of four students - one from each school playing in the Final Four. "We had trouble scoring the first half. We were one (assist) and eight", Beilein said. "It's what college basketball should be all about and I think all of Loyola Nation got a taste of that", he said.

And Wagner got plenty of help, as guard Charles Matthews finished with 17 points, while starting guard Muhammad Ali Abdur-Rahkman joined reserves Jaaron Poole and Duncan Robinson with seven points each in the semifinal victory. Wagner posted a double-double in the first half.

As the seconds ticked off, Wagner pumped his fist to the many MI fans who made the trek to San Antonio, while Loyola's Jackson, who got the Ramblers rolling with a late game-winning 3-pointer in the first round against Miami, looked toward the roof and shook his head. Krutwig answered inside over Wagner to stop the MI run, but then the Wolverines got going offensively. The first is West Region champion and third-seeded MI against South Region champion and 11-seed Loyola-Chicago.

9-for-31 Michigan's first-half shooting, including 2-for-13 on three-pointers, as nearly all the Wolverines' baskets came at the rim. The Ramblers led 29-22 at half.

"I knew they were trying to punch us", Wagner said.

"I don't really like the saying 'Cinderella story, ' because it always includes somehow that they're not supposed to be there", Wagner said. Tough to guard. And their big man does an incredible job down there as a freshman. "And it worked out".

The game kept people on their toes until the second half. Loyola Chicago - they've changed the perception, doing things the right way.
