It made sense for a lawyer or an expert in legal matters to comment on judicial verdicts, the judge added.

They said the regulatory body had so far failed to take any action to stop the airing of the speeches despite high court orders in this regard.

The petitioners submitted that Sharif and his daughter had been severely criticizing the judiciary in their public speeches.

Representing the regulator, Advocate Salman Akram Raja argued that the petitioners were raising unnecessary objections against the regulatory body's authority, which was taking steps to decide all the complaints on the matter.

He drew the attention to Article 68, saying it even prevented the Parliament from criticising the judiciary and its decisions.

Disqualified premier Nawaz Sharif on Tuesday stressed the need for respecting the "sanctity of vote" as it was linked to security, prosperity and development of the country.

Trump seems to row back on promise of strikes
Trump used a meeting with generals on Monday evening to rail against a raid on the offices of his personal lawyer, Michael Cohen. The New York Times reported late Tuesday that Trump demanded Mueller be fired in December and his investigation shut down.

"Freedom of speech is a fundamental right of every citizen", Barrister Ali Zafar, former president of the Supreme Court Bar Association, told Arab News.

Multiple petitions have been filed in different courts against them over alleged contempt of court.

The political future of Mr. Sharif, who leads the country's most powerful political family and his party (PML-N), has been hanging in the balance since then.

Lashing out at the Balochistan government, he said a government elected by the people had been toppled and an artificial structure was put in place.

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) supremo Nawaz Sharif on today (Apr. 17) said the court should make clear what "anti-judiciary" means, adding that everyone has the right to dissent.

It was discussed how much the decision will impact the PML-N movement with the motto "vote ko izzat do" in near future.
