But reports of chemical attacks have regularly surfaced since then, and recent reports from Islamist rebels fighting Assad in Douma, the town where the most recent suspected chemical attack sparked the USA and allies' strike, said Assad is using the terrifying weapons to win on the battlefield.

The suspected April 7 gas attack on Douma, near Damascus, reportedly left more than 40 people dead and was blamed by Western powers on Syrian President Bashar al-Assad's regime.

The US-led strikes did nothing to alter the strategic balance or dent Assad's supremacy, and the Western allies have said the aim was to prevent the further use of chemical weapons, not to intervene in the civil war or topple Assad.

British Prime Minister Theresa May Tuesday made a statement in Parliament to justify her decision to join US-led air strikes alongside France against Syria's chemical weapons stockpiles over the weekend and declared that it had been a "morally and legally right" move.

United States' Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley said Sunday the Trump administration will announce more sanctions against Russian Federation as soon as Monday.

U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley on Tuesday fired back against a Trump administration official who said she was suffering from "momentary confusion" when she announced new sanctions against Russian Federation were imminent, saying, "With all due respect, I don't get confused".

The OPCW inspectors will investigate if chemical weapons were actually used in Douma.

As a country, as a society we all are ashamed of it", the Prime Minister said. "Not now, not anymore, never again", Modi said. The court had given the Centre six weeks to frame the scheme on the verdict.

Russian Federation have said they will be able to do so on Wednesday.

About 45 human rights and aid groups urged U.N. Secretary-General António Guterres on Friday to appoint a team of independent investigators to determine blame for toxic gas attacks in Syria.

United Nations spokesman Stephane Dujarric said Wednesday that Staffan de Mistura embarked on the consultations following a meeting Monday with Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on the sidelines of the Arab League summit in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia "and in view of current tensions".

However, U.N. spokesman Stephane Dujarric said the United Nations has "provided the necessary clearances for the OPCW team to go about its work in Douma". Gen. Ali Mayhoub said that the Scientific Research Center in Barzeh near Damascus was hit, while three people were injured in Homs when a missile was targeted.

In an another emergency meeting today, MPs in the House of Commons, including opposition leader Jeremy Corbyn asked why she had not gone to the United Nations first to seek approval for the airstrikes that targeted Syrian Bashar al-Assad's chemical weapons stockpiles.

"If President Trump had ordered the strike only to show that the U.S. responded to [Syrian President Bashar] Assad's use of chemical weapons, then that goal has been achieved", a senior defense official told Israel's Ynet News. The U.N. source did not give details of the shooting incident. In an apparent slight at Trump, who claimed this week that the new missiles would be "nice, new and smart", Moscow said some of the equipment was designed as long ago as the 1950s.

At the time of the alleged attack, Douma was held by the Jaysh al-Islam (Army of Islam).

"I urge all Member States to show restraint in these unsafe circumstances and to avoid any acts that could escalate the situation and worsen the suffering of the Syrian people", he said.
