Keeping up with the news is a big part of our day, and since its inception almost two decades ago, Google News has been a place for anyone to find what they're looking for.

In the wake of the rise of fake news spread by platforms like Facebook during the 2016 election and general fears about social media's effects on the way people consume news and information, there is likely to be intense scrutiny on how Google's AI performs. In fact, Google lifted a couple of features from its existing Newsstand app for the News app revamp. It contains news articles picked out for you, with a briefing showing the top five stories.

The company also wants people to get to know the full story behind news to better educate themselves about what's happening.

Google is overhauling Google News to incorporate a wider array of sources, including magazine articles and videos, as the tech giant rolls out subscription support in its bid to improve relations with publishers. In addition, you'll be able to decide if you'd like to see less or more of an issue or publisher.

Newsstand view lets you subscribe to sources more easily.

If you want to learn more, you can dive in more deeply to stories through the "Full Coverage" feature, which is also launching along with the redesign.

Brighton ensure survival with win over Man United
They have been beaten by all three of the newly promoted teams away from home and lost last month at home against West Brom. Brighton won the game 1-0 which guaranteed their safety in the Premier League .

In addition, if you'd like to dig deeper into a narrative, a brand new "Total Coverage" attribute stipulates a comprehensive picture of just how that narrative is recorded from a variety of resources. You are going to be able to see top headlines from various sources, videos, regional information reports, FAQs, societal opinion, as well as a timeline for all stories that have played out as time passes.

Using this automated vetting system, the new Google News app will offer users a personalized stream of content that is most personally important to them.

As Google News PM Trystan Upstill explained, "having a productive conversation or debate requires everyone to have access to the same information".

Google News says it will draw content from "trusted news sources", though it's not exactly clear what qualifies as a trusted news source.

With Google News, you don't have to type in your credit card number each time, as Google takes the payment on the news site's behalf. It will be available in 127 countries on iOS and Android and web.
