"This warranty shall not apply if this product has been damaged by products not sold or licensed by Nintendo (Including, but not limited to, adapters, software, and power supplies)".

Based on this report from WCCFTech, Sony has updated their warranty across the board for all its systems in the United States and Canada.

Previously, taking your Nintendo Switch or PlayStation 4 into a third-party shop for repairs could void the official warranty, but now the two companies have changed their warranty terms in the U.S. and Canada to comply with the FTC's demands. Sony has officially updated their policies to meet the FTC standards.

Woods struggles with greens in first round since Masters
The latter missed cut was the last time Woods played here, but he can't shake the knowledge of the way the greens used to play. Woods made his only birdie on his final hole Friday in the Wells Fargo Championship, an 18-foot putt on the par-4 ninth hole.

Every company was awarded 30 days' notice to upgrade their policies or they'll need to deal with potential legal actions. The removal or adjustment of the sticker is no longer a cause for voiding warranty.

"We are updating our warranties to clarify that having your device repaired by a third party, opening your console, or breaking the seal will not void the warranty". Most notably, the three major console makers, Sony, Nintendo and Microsoft, were all on the list.

Sony originally said that a product's warranty would be voided if used with an unlicensed peripheral or if the warranty sticker has been altered or removed. (You can see for yourself using the Wayback Machine.) Before, tampering of any sort would void the warranty. In regards to repairs, local services will only void the warranty if they damage it. The policy always existed, but Sony never included the language in its warranty. Like the other change, the warning now says the warranty does not apply to damage caused by opening the products or third-party service providers. Now the warranty clearly states that consumers will receive free return shipping for all consoles in-warranty, factory-recertified, and repaired. Now following that, Nintendo too has announced that they have updated the terms of warranty for their hardware systems.
