Melania can’t get flowers at hospital for ‘security reasons

First lady Melania Trump underwent a "successful" procedure Monday to treat a benign kidney condition and was expected to remain hospitalized for the rest of the week, her staff said.

Trump joked at lunch that support for the first lady was so high that he had her promise she wouldn't run against him, said a person familiar with the discussion but not authorised to discuss a private conversation.

Trump tweeted Tuesday that "our great First Lady is doing really well". Walter Reed Medical Center. "They did a fantastic job". "Thank you to all of the well-wishers!" he wrote in a tweet.

White House deputy press secretary Lindsay Walters said Melania Trump is in "good spirits". He also spent time with her at the hospital on Monday evening after she had been treated.

The First Lady's communication director released a more detailed statement this week, confirming "the procedure was successful and there were no complications".

They are not common but tend to occur in middle-aged women and can cause problematic bleeding if they become large enough, said Dr Keith Kowalczyk of MedStar Georgetown University Hospital. Mrs. Trump also represented the administration at the April funeral of former first lady Barbara Bush.
