Pollak: Trump Calls G-7's 'Free Trade' Bluff

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo on Monday downplayed the feud between the U.S. and allies in the G7 after President Trump and members of his administration teed off on Justin Trudeau, with one saying there's a "special place in hell" for the Canadian prime minister.

"Here's the thing", Kudlow said, "he really kind of stabbed us in the back".

In scenes, remarks, and tweets that are unprecedented in the diplomatic world, Trump brought the US-led alliance of advanced economies close to a rupture, refusing to sign a joint communique with the group and calling Trudeau a "dishonest liar" - all over the contentious issue of trade tariffs on which he feels the U.S. has been unfairly treated.

Similarly, Krueger said Trump was unlikely to take the countermeasures lying down and could hit back with more trade restrictions.

"He's happy", said Trump, to laughter.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau then "acts hurt when called out!" "They're also anxious about the retaliatory measures that we will take".

"I think it would be an asset to have Russian Federation back in, I think it would be good for the world, I think it would be good for Russian Federation, I think it would be good for the United States, I think it would be good for all the countries of the current G7", he said.

Mr. Trump called Trudeau "dishonest & weak" after Trudeau said at a news conference that Canada would retaliate for new US tariffs.

Less than 24 hours before his meeting with Kim, Trump found time to lambast what he sees as unfair trade practices among the other six industrialized democracies at the summit.

He added that Trudeau's statement risked making Trump look weak before his meeting with Kim Jong Un, the top leader of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) in Singapore.

Injured In Shooting At Indiana Middle School, Student Suspect In Custody
According to WISH-TV, the son of one of the television station's producers told the station that "a male shooter is in custody". Adding to the confusion was a threat reported at the high school as middle school students were being evacuated.

President Donald Trump's top economic adviser says Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau "really kind of stabbed us in the back" when Trudeau said at the end of the Group of Seven summit that Canada wouldn't be pushed around by the USA and its trade tariffs.

At issue are USA tariffs against Canada and Trudeau's effort to retaliate against its neighbor - as well as Trudeau's comment to reporters that all seven leaders had come together to sign a joint declaration after the G-7 meeting. And what did Trudeau do as soon as the plane took off from Canadian airspace?

Speaking on "Fox News Sunday", Navarro doubled down on Kudlow's rhetoric and said Trudeau's post-conference comments were in bad faith.

As well as criticising the tariffs, Mrs May has also opposed Mr Trump's call for Russian Federation to be readmitted to the group of leading industrialised nations.

"I have made it very clear to the President that it is not something we relish doing, but it something that we absolutely will do", Mr. Trudeau said.

Navarro, the Trump trade adviser, said his harsh assessment of what "bad faith" Trudeau did with "that stunt press conference" on Saturday "comes right from Air Force One".

"I think the G8 would be better, I think having Russian Federation back in would be a positive thing".

Navarro said Trump "did the courtesy to Justin Trudeau to travel up to Quebec for that summit".

Greg Valliere, the chief global strategist at Horizon Investments, wrote Monday that the back-and-forth would most likely only cement the resolve of both Trump and Trudeau.

The US has slapped a 25% tariff on imports of steel and 10% on aluminium from countries including the United Kingdom and the rest of the European Union.
