Trio of thieves put shark in baby stroller, roll it out of the San Antonio Aquarium

The three people confessed to stealing the horn shark after the video of their freaky theft was posted by the San Antonio Aquarium.

By Monday night, two people had confessed to stealing the shark, Leon Valley Police Chief Joseph Salvaggio told reporters.

Police confirmed that a 38-year-old man was arrested on Monday night in connection with the theft, the Daily Mail reported. Then they put the bucket in a baby stroller and rolled it away from the scene of the crime on Saturday afternoon, according to Salvaggio.

Miss Helen was grabbed by her tail from a special tank that lets visitors touch the fish within, then wrapped in a blanket.

Police said the mastermind of the theft has several marine animals in his home.

A shark was dressed up as a baby, put into a pushchair, and stolen from an aquarium in broad daylight.

The General Manager of the San Antonio Aquarium Jen Spellman said that as of Monday evening, the shark is still alive.

Police don't believe the shark was taken to sell but to be added to the suspect's collection.

The shark and stroller were placed in a 4-door maroon Chevrolet Silverado truck, police say.

'And when we got into the garage and into the house, it looked like nearly a mock-up of (the aquarium)'.

Law enforcement is working with the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration to investigate where the other marine animals in the man's home tanks came from.

One 38-year-old man has been charged with theft, while charges against the other two suspects are pending; officials are looking into whether the sharknapping will necessitate federal charges.Miss Helen is now back at home in the aquarium, and seems to be in good health.

Salvaggio said the aquarium was lucky that it was dealing with someone who knew how to care for sharks. It's not yet clear if the woman seen with them will face charges as well.

Horn sharks are worth about $2,000.

"I guess it's pretty hardy animal, but we're putting it in quarantine to see how it does", he said. "Obviously, he likes those types of animals".
