U.S. Intel Reportedly Says North Korea is Building New Missiles As Trump Continues to Boast of Progress

Kim Do-gyun, the South's chief negotiator who is in charge of North Korea policy at the Ministry of National Defense, told reporters before leaving for the DMZ that he would make efforts to craft "substantive" measures to ease tensions and build trust.

There is no indication that North Korea is developing new technology, but if confirmed the latest intelligence would raise doubts over the broad commitment Kim Jong-un made to denuclearisation at his summit with President Trump last month. "This is a solemn reminder that our work is not complete until all have been accounted for, no matter how long it takes to do so", said Vincent K. Brooks, Commander of United States Forces Korea.

The five missing soldiers should be buried in the United Nations cemetery in Busan, South Korea, where 117 other Dutch soldiers who died in the conflict were laid to rest, the VOKS said.

The 55 boxes, draped in the blue and white flag of the United Nations, are each small enough to be carried in one person's arms. Both are in line with Kim's directive during his 2018 New Year's Day address for the country's missile engineers and nuclear scientists to mass produce warheads and missiles. The DPAA has what it calls family reference samples, including DNA, for more than 90 percent of the missing servicemembers. "But then they'll say, 'The next ones, we need to find them, locate them, restore them.' And then they'll start charging". There's a whole lot of us.

The 1950-1953 Korean War was incredibly violent, with 36,940 Americans killed and another 92,134 wounded. -North Korean recovery efforts, termed "joint field activities", between 1996 and 2005 yielded 229 caskets of remains, of which 153 have been identified, according to the Pentagon.

US officials also are eager to resume searches in North Korea for more remains, an effort that has been stalled for more than a decade due to rising nuclear tensions. The two sides remain technically at war because a peace treaty was never signed. The remains will be analyzed in Hawaii to determine whether they are those of US service members missing since the Korean War.

He says: "Iran has said very clearly that any war with them will be very costly, and this means American bases throughout the region could be a target".

"Just over 1,000 men are unrecovered" from the so-called Demilitarized Zone and nearby buffer zones, according to DPAA.

Between 1990 and 2005, 229 sets of remains were returned to the U.S., but co-operation halted as relations deteriorated alongside the development of North Korea's nuclear programme.

Mr Trump met with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un and agreed to a pledge to "work towards" the "denucleariasation" of the Korean Peninsula.

One US source said North Korea appears to be building one or two new liquid-fuelled ICBMs at the research facility on the outskirts of Pyongyang. In addition to obfuscating its number of nuclear warheads and missiles, U.S. intelligence reportedly indicated that the regime is trying to hide the type and numbers of its facilities, and prevent worldwide inspectors from taking a look at their developments.

The North demonstrated sharp progress in its program a year ago when it test-fired numerous missiles and conducted its sixth and most powerful nuclear test.
