Support for the Australian government has crashed after a week of backstabbing saw Malcolm Turnbull deposed as prime minister, with a poll Monday showing it is on course to be hammered at elections due next year.

Peter Dutton has confirmed that he will be responsible for cybersecurity as part of the new Department of Home Affairs (DHA) portfolio following last week's leadership spill in the Australian government.

"As Australia's leading stateswoman, her strength of leadership and diplomacy make her a role model for not only young women, but all Australians", the Maslins said.

Fairfax News says she's expected to announce her decision on Sunday.

Bishop has taken a decidedly friendly line toward Israel since taking over as foreign minister in 2013, including increasingly voting against resolutions critical of the Jewish state in the United Nations.

"I think in politics, especially in the Liberal party, it is far too easy to change the leader", she told ABC radio.

Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern spoke to Mr Morrison yesterday afternoon.

According to a message the prime minister issued on Sunday: "On behalf of the government and the people of Bangladesh and on my own behalf, I've the great pleasure in extending our warmest felicitations to you on your assumption of office as Prime Minister of the Commonwealth of Australia". Turnbull's resignation from parliament was expected in the coming week.

"If all MPs looked after their local electorate as effectively as Julie there would be few complaints from the public", Mr Court said.

The long-serving foreign minister returned to Perth on Saturday.
