The Duke and Duchess of Sussex attended a ceremony to unveil a Sydney war memorial 84 years in the making on the fifth day of their visit to Australia.

Prior to attending the Invictus' opening night program, the royal couple made a visit to the famous open-air venue during the day, clad in matching Invictus polos and casual trousers.

Meghan Markle has compared pregnancy to jet lag during a conversation during her and Prince Harry's royal tour of Australia.

Harry saluted as the Last Post rang out across Hyde Park, while Meghan, in a long black dress by New Zealand designer Emilia Wickstead, stood beside him.

"I have been so proud to be able to introduce my wife to you and we have been so happy to celebrate the personal joy of our new addition with you all", he said in a message to Australia in wrapping up his speech, referring to their yet-to-be-born baby.

The duke, who served in the Army for 10 years, founded the Invictus Games in 2014 with the aim of helping wounded service personnel and veterans with their physical and psychological rehabilitation.

The Premier said Sydney would "embrace" the Invictus spirit for the duration of the Games, which will close next Saturday night at Quodos Bank Arena.

At least two hand grenade explosions and sporadic gunfire from around the compound were also reported by officials. A top Afghan security commander, Kandahar police chief Gen Abdul Raziq , has been shot dead by a bodyguard.

The Queen, who today congratulated the couple on their news, was also 37 when she gave birth to her fourth child, Prince Edward, in 1964.

"When I had the honour of meeting the Duke and Duchess, their Royal Highnesses, at Admiralty house the first thing he said to me was 'Premier thank you for the sunshine because last June he was drenched when we had the launch event". The students were putting together boxes of supplies for women in need that were delivered to police stations and other locations where they can get help.

Prince Harry has opened the Invictus Games in Sydney, where more than 500 competitors will be taking part in 13 sports.

The blonde armed officer is never far from them as Meghan Markle and Prince Harry conduct 76 engagements in 16 days, according to the Daily Mail.

The ceremony overran by more than an hour due to a thunderstorm that had made it too risky for the public to take their seats in the outdoor arena, so the Duchess undertook her latest night of the tour with a 10.30pm finish.

The Duchess also added that it was still too early to make an official baby name decision.

Harry's been very vocal about dealing with the loss of his mother, Princess Diana.
