The odds of matching all six numbers and winning the Mega Millions jackpot are 1 in 302.5 million.

But if you are itching to play, you could win even more on Tuesday.

Powerball, which held the record for the largest US lottery prize of £1.213 billion ($1.586 bn) in 2016, will hold a separate draw on Saturday.

The estimated jackpot of $476 million will grow to $620 million.

Last year, lottery officials raised the price of Mega Millions tickets from one to two dollars and that has in turn meant larger prizes.

On Tuesday, that would mean a total of almost $905 million - before taxes, according to the Mega Millions website.

Donald Trump says Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi likely dead, vows 'severe' consequences
The president said the consequences for Saudi Arabia , if they are ultimately deemed culpable, "will have to be very severe". Lendman said U.S. officials have given Riyadh a few more days to concoct the cover story.

The odds of winning the Powerball jackpot are 1 in 292 million. The next Powerball drawing is Wednesday.

The prize pot has reached new heights after no player got all of the numbers of 15, 23, 53, 65, 70 and the Mega Ball 7 during Friday night's draw.

You must match all five numbers plus the Mega number to win the grand prize.

In 2016, a $1.6 billion Powerball prize was split three ways by ticket holders from California, Florida and Tennessee.

Scores of American lottery players were disappointed they hadn't become an overnight billionaire Saturday - but they'll get another chance to scoop the jackpot, with $1.6 billion (R22,945,647,497) up for grabs in a few days. But because the player added the Power Play for an extra $1, the prize is $2 million. Fifteen tickets matched five numbers for second-tier prizes of at least $1 million.
